How long have you worked for CCHFH and what do you do?
I began working for CCHFH in September 2009 after serving as on the board of directors from 2003 - 2009. As Director of Operations, I am responsible for our construction program, our ReStore, volunteer management, administration, public relations, marketing, and events. Thankfully, we have a wonderful mix of staff and volunteers working together.
What do people say you do?
They would say that I am a question answerer, cheerleader, hugger, and opportunity finder.
If you were not doing this, what other job might you enjoy?
I would love to be a full-time organizational development consultant, traveling the country and the world to help grow organizations.
How do you feel CCHFH is changing?
The staff seems to enjoy working together as a team. We have a lot of positive energy with our volunteers and homeowners, and there is a robust feeling of sorts. The ReStore is organized and folks are shopping heavily. The family selection team is first-rate. We are actively building in two locations at the same time. Our volunteers can choose from a series of meaningful opportunities. It's just fantastic.
What was the worst job you ever had?
When I was in college I was desperate for cash and accepted a job cleaning a woman's swimming pool area. Little did I know she would have me scrub her entire patio with a horse-hair brush. I've still not gotten over it.I think she paid me $40 and I worked from sun up to sun down.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
The most enjoyable part of my job is connecting people with the right resources every day.
If you could give your 18 year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Choose a focus that is worthy of your passion and stay the course.
